Admission Requirements
The requirements for admission into the (C.D.L) program are as follow:
A) Must be 21 years of age
B) Hold a current Type 3 Hawaii Driver’s License
C) Acceptable driving record
D) Social Security Card
E) Original Birth Certificate
F) Proof of Residence (such as Phone, Electric or Water Bill)

Course Description:

CDL Introduction 1
This course covers the safe principles of driving, state / federal rules and regulations governing the operation of a commercial vehicle on public roads, an orientation to CDL, general knowledge, air brakes, combination.

CDL Introduction 2
Prerequisite CDL Permit
This course teaches the main systems and parts of commercial vehicle, proper vehicle inspection, and the purpose importance and types of vehicle inspection.

Behind the Wheel Basic Operation 1
This course consists of hands-on, behind the wheel instruction.  Learn the vehicle basic control system, instruments and proper driving skills, start, stop, and how to maneuver for turns, reverse and parking a vehicle.

Behind the Wheel Basic Operation 2
This course is continuation of behind the wheel basic Operation I.  Learn shifting patterns and procedures, backing procedures and rules, looking/ scanning ahead, using mirrors and signaling. Vehicle is operated in a controlled environment.

 
Safe Behind the Wheel Operation Practice 1
This course includes safe vehicle operation in highway traffic, merging, controlling vehicle up and downhill, stopping and turn corners.

Safe Behind the Wheel Operation Practice 2
This course offers more practice with basic driving skills to manage space and speed, take turns successfully, up/ down hills and how to judge sufficient stopping distance.

Performance & Testing
This course demonstrates the ability to perform routine service functions, simple maintained inspection, basic control skills and driving safely on a pre-determined route to full fill City & County Test.

Road Exposure C
Upon receiving your commercial driver's license, this course provides more time to again experience driving at various times during the day and or night under various driving conditions.
